作者简介:
George Bernard Shaw was born in Dublin in 1856 into a troubled childhood attributed to relative poverty and an alcoholic father,whose funeral Shaw and his mother did not attend.Raised mostly by servants after Shaw's mother left to teach music in london,Shaw entered the workforce at age fifteen.He later followed his mother and sister to England,where he would spend thirty years without so much as a visit to Ireland.Further educating himself through reading,he began writing musinc and drama criticism,as well as novels, but found success as a writer elusive.he did,however,Become a renowened public speaker through his involvement in a middle-class socialist group.He later became the drama ctitic for the Saturday Review and his Criticism was collected in several volumes.He married the wealthy Charlotte payne Townshend in 1898 and they would eventually settle in the hertfordshire village of Ayot St.Lawrence.
